180 years of Woolrich

Known for their rich heritage of quality outdoor wear and signature range of plaid jackets and woolen work-wear, Woolrich isn’t exactly the kind of lust-after brand we’re used to. But this year they celebrate 180 years of the brand and to mark the occasion they have released a special limited edition anniversary collection – and let us tell you, it’s really rather cool.

The capsule collection for AW10 comprises just 17 pieces for men and women with only 180 pieces produced for each item. And just so you know you’re getting a true collectable every piece has been individually numbered with anniversary labelling. The styles, which include a great ranch style plaid jacket and the classic ‘Charley Brown’ jacket, have been taken from the depths of the Woolrich archives and have been re-worked for a contemporary look.

We love the original images from the archives which accompany the latest interpretations of the pieces – especially loving the couple in matching outfits. The traditional outdoor wool and shearling Ranch coat that they are sporting so well has been re-worked in Woolrich’s signature red plaid with a shearling collar and real horn buttons. It’s a really wearable on-trend piece and these kind of coats are going to be everywhere come next season so getting a true heritage piece will put you one step ahead of the rest.

The ‘Charley Brown’ jacket was a favourite with fans throughout the 60s – 80s and with a tagline – ‘Where the girls are is where the Charley Brown is’ – we can see why. Featuring handpicked archive fabrics, chamois suede collar and cuffs and cashmere lining this jacket is a great investment buy for AW that will be a real heritage piece.

The Woolrich AW10 heritage collection will be available to next season via the Woolrich site.

Ronaldo disrobes for Armani…again.

Football star Ronaldo has got his kit off of for Armani for the second season in a row, and guess what? He still looks annoyingly good. Yes, his taut, toned, muscle-ripped torso will be fronting not only the Emporio Armani Underwear campaign, but the Armani Jeans campaign for AW10 too.

We don’t need to tell you how good he looks, so we think we’ll just leave it at that.

Shot on location in Madrid, you’ll be able to see the advertising campaign (and Ronaldo’s muscles) in their full glory from around July, so any be prepared for admiring glances to turn into full blown episodes of gawking at billboards. Beware, it’s coming to a city near you soon…

AW10 arrives at Oki-Ni

We know it’s a little premature, but we’re so over the summer. It’s not that we’ve had enough of the sunny weather (where?!), the barbecues (grand total so far: 1), or the football (so not over that), but we’re just too excited about buying our autumn-winter wardrobes.

And it really doesn’t help our already impatient state of mind when Oki-Ni start tempting us with really nice things that we really, really want: I present to you the new Margiela Footwear.

We know. Pretty smart we think you’ll agree? Go ahead, knock yourself out and buy them here.

It wasn’t so long ago that we asked you this very pressing question for the first time, and with a distinct air of de ja vous we find ourselves asking it once more: are you Britain’s best dressed man? Yes, back in May we told you about men’s mag GQ and their search for Britain’s most sartorially savvy man, but now the gentleman’s style file Esquire has launched their very own quest for the best dressed amongst you.

The impeccable taste and collective fashion eye of Esquire’s style team are being put to the test out on the road as they embark on their tour of Britain’s cities to find the most stylish ordinary man. Exclusive Chipmunk Interview

Hip-hop star Chipmunk has teamed up with Foot Locker and adidas Shop this summer to launch the latest reincarnation of the iconic adidas Top Ten trainer. As the face of the campaign, Chipmunk will be pictured in Foot Locker windows nationwide when the must-have sneakers hit the shop floor on 6th June. We caught up with Chipmunk for a quick Q&A about the campaign, his personal style and why it’s all in the walk.

How does it feel to be fronting the campaign for such an iconic footwear brand and trainer?
Yeh, good! Cool! It’s kinda hard to explain, it’s good for both parties, you know, I’m into trainers – I like Footlocker, they’re into me – they like my music, so we just made it happen.

How do you wear your adidas Shop which is your favourite colour?
White, it’s summer “innit”. One thing I don’t do is leave a load of laces hanging out my trainers, you know, big bows and stuff, I just think it looks pretty young. Other than that I just do them up and put them on.

So how important is looking good to you?
Yeh man, I just feel that you’ve got to stay fresh, that doesn’t mean that you’ve got to wear designer clothes, I just personally like them to stay looking fresh.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?
Chipmunk, Jamaal, Indescribable.

When your not sporting your Adidas originals, what other brands do you like to wear?
Prada

Good choice…..

I like Prada, I’m hot on Prada, I’ve been on them for a long time.

What is your favourite item of clothing?
My favourite piece of clothing – I actually don’t have a favourite piece but I really like – footwear wise – Superstars and Stan Smiths. And I like plain things, so plain white and plain black t-shirts.

You like keeping it simple, so you let the rest do the talking?
Yeh man, it’s all in the walk.

When it comes to women who do you think has really good style?
Rhianna, Cheryl Cole and Pixie (Lott)

I’ve heard you say you’ve got the TP, total package,‘Look good, MC good make hits and still go on radio and roll with the MCs…’ so what’s the secret behind looking so good?

I think it’s all about confidence. For instance you might get dressed and say to your friend ‘what do you think’, and they might go ‘nah no way’, but it’s down to you ‘innit? I think you should just go for it, you know, you’ve got to be able to pull things off.

Can we expect a Chipmunk clothing line anytime soon?
Yeh you can! I’ve got my Chipmunk cartoon that I wear on my t-shirt, but yeh it’s probably going to pick up more after my tour then we can give it a proper push. I’m more towards the music side, but as well as that I’m into clothes, and kids like what I wear. Yeh we’ve got a t-shirt that’s been popular, so we’re going to branch out soon.

Chipmunk’s Shine Shine tour starts on 28th June and runs throughout July. Visit his website for more information.

The classic adidas Top Ten design is available in three colour ways and will be sold in Foot Locker stores nationwide from June 6th priced from £54.99. Visit footlocker for further information.

Sherbert Shades

One of menswear’s rising stars Jsen Wintle championed pastels and muted shades of suiting on the catwalk at London fashion week SS10, as did Burberry Prorsum and elsewhere at Dior Homme and Michael Kors. The trend is a great way to add a bit of a summer lift to an outfit and it brings a new approach to classic separates such as a tailored suit jacket.

We’ve bought together some of the best pastels around, so take your pick.

This blazer brings a whole new meaning to parma violets – not just a childhood sweet but a viable shade for a piece of clothing too. Ok so this Marc Jacobs blazer is officially ‘light grey’ but from here we’re calling it parma violet. Either way with its subtle pinstripe and cropped style it’s a great alternative to your dark blazer. £365 Buy it here.

Salmon? Pink? Whatever you want to call it this Gant polo shirt is a sherbert staple that will see you right through summer and is a great work wear alternative to a shirt for a slightly more relaxed look. Keep it on trend and mix with a light pair of trousers, or you can even wear it with your brand new Marc Jacobs blazer…£55 Buy it here.

For a lighthearted look try experimenting with a pattern and sport this very fetching polka dot jersey in mint green. Pair this Paul Smith jumper with a tailored jacket to give your look a bit more of a smart edge. £115 Buy it here.

These dusty pink shorts from Reiss aren’t exactly the best choice for rolling around in the park practicing your World Cup standard skills, but they are perfect for city outings and make for a super cool work wear alternative. £59 Buy them here.

With only 3000 of these limited collectors edition Oakley Frogskins made it’s time to embrace the eighties and get your hands on a pair while you can. £90 Buy them here.
