One of menswear’s rising stars Jsen Wintle championed pastels and muted shades of suiting on the catwalk at London fashion week SS10, as did Burberry Prorsum and elsewhere at Dior Homme and Michael Kors. The trend is a great way to add a bit of a summer lift to an outfit and it brings a new approach to classic separates such as a tailored suit jacket.

We’ve bought together some of the best pastels around, so take your pick.

This blazer brings a whole new meaning to parma violets – not just a childhood sweet but a viable shade for a piece of clothing too. Ok so this Marc Jacobs blazer is officially ‘light grey’ but from here we’re calling it parma violet. Either way with its subtle pinstripe and cropped style it’s a great alternative to your dark blazer. £365 Buy it here.

Salmon? Pink? Whatever you want to call it this Gant polo shirt is a sherbert staple that will see you right through summer and is a great work wear alternative to a shirt for a slightly more relaxed look. Keep it on trend and mix with a light pair of trousers, or you can even wear it with your brand new Marc Jacobs blazer…£55 Buy it here.

For a lighthearted look try experimenting with a pattern and sport this very fetching polka dot jersey in mint green. Pair this Paul Smith jumper with a tailored jacket to give your look a bit more of a smart edge. £115 Buy it here.

These dusty pink shorts from <a href="

http://www.reiss.co.uk/shop/mens/shorts/grass/dusty_pink/

">Reiss aren’t exactly the best choice for rolling around in the park practicing your World Cup standard skills, but they are perfect for city outings and make for a super cool work wear alternative. £59 Buy them here.

With only 3000 of these limited collectors edition Oakley Frogskins made it’s time to embrace the eighties and get your hands on a pair while you can. £90 Buy them here.

Since Kate Moss donned her little hot-pants outfit to the UK’s favourite music event - Glastonbury – a few years ago, festival goers have treated the occasion like a bizarre, mud-filled catwalk - parading their finest (and often loudest) wardrobes to the masses. The best (or maybe worst) thing about this? There are no rules.

But let’s not limit this to the girls. And having said that, to the festival crowd themselves. Performers after all, are under the scrutiny of the fields of fashionistas, fans and cameras, and the men are no exception. Here’s a few that we’ve picked out:

Pete Doherty – Dressed in his faithful trilby hat, Pete chose a military/old band style top in a black and gold jersey material for his performance on The Other Stage. Thumbs up to Pete for the casual take on this formal theme. Although we’re not so sure about the navy blue polo shirt underneath, luckily Pete can pull off just about anything without it looking out of the ordinary.

Damon Albarn – An understated Fred Perry polo shirt from the lead singer of Blur. Not to detract from the much anticipated reunion of the 90s ‘Britpop’ band, Albarn opted for the iconic shirt from the British label, currently celebrating their 100th year. The people at Fred Perry must be very happy considering Glastonbury’s national reach, alongside Andy Murray’s performances in their brand at Wimbledon!

Paul Smith – Looking dapper in his powder-blue suit, frontman of Maximo Park - Paul Smith - kicked off Glastonbury with his usual high-octane performance (complete with bowler hat). You’d think that all that jumping around the stage wouldn’t do any good for one’s suit – and you’d be right. Smith revealed to NME that he has enlisted the help of tailor Jonathan Quearney to reinforce the crotch of his trousers!

James Allen - It was an all-black occassion for the Glasvegas boys, and James Allen kept his cool throughout, despite spending some of their set in a leather biker jacket that had a rather scary skull emblazoned across the back. Each to their own. Loving the Wayfarers though.

Pharrell Williams – What else would the lead singer of N*E*R*D step out on stage in, except his own luxury brand Billionaire Boys Club? The band might have had the plug pulled during their last song due to time constraints, which might have lead to a little Pharrell strop, but at least he’s throwing a hissy fit in style.

If you fancy yourself a football loyalist, you would know today is a monumental day in football as England’s Manchester United and Spain’s F.C. Barcelona square off to decide who is the European champion. A time-tested Manchester United fan, I’m confident that United is bagging the silverware. However, I’m also comforted in the fact that, win or lose, the Manchester United lads will be well decked out in Sir Paul Smith’s awfully dapper light grey Prince of Wales suits.

Recently billed as the victors of the English Premiership, it was only natural that Manchester United would be in league with the iconic British designer. For the last year, Sir Smith has been at the helm of the football club’s formal wear and accessories, designing and supplying the United players, coaching staff and club officials with suits, raincoats and baggage. The union is meant to span for another two years.

On the eve of the 2009 Champions League match in Rome, the United squad and manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, were snapped alongside Sir Smith in their aplomb ensemble for the footballing fiesta. Coincidentally, United wore Sir Smith’s suits last year at the 2008 finals in Moscow and the Red Devils went on to win on penalties against Chelsea. Formulaic or not, but United are headed to Rome in Smith’s specially customized suits hoping that two times a charm pips the original idiom! Not much has changed in terms of last year’s design; the two-button suit is in a lightweight wool/mohair blend and rounded out with special red paneled lining and striped piping.

To my chagrin, Carlos Tevez had to go Michael Jackson on us and wear white socks with his dark brown brogues. Maybe he should have left that to Nani as the Portuguese winger strangely favors a young Michael Jackson! On that jovial note, do England proud lads and bring home the treble! GO UNITED!!!
